Skin disorders
Skin disorders are chronic conditions caused by bacterial, viral or fungal infections, by underlying medical conditions or by a disease.
How severe these skin diseases are and how long they last depend on many factors. Common problems include acne, rashes, herpes, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, pruritis, alopecia and cancer - among others. These can affect the skin surface and hair as well as deeper layers of the dermis.
CausesMedical problems like liver or heart disease, diabetes and lupus, among others, have complications that may be visible on the body surface. Many rashes, blemishes, irritations and difficult conditions are caused by skin cells that have lost some of their capacity for retaining moisture. While it's not a pleasant topic, constipation or back ups in the colon can cause stomach pain, fatigue, gas, bloating, headaches, indigestion, weight gain, lack of sleep AND can show up as pimples, a rash or worse. Drinking plenty of good water helps with both colon and skin problems.
Common skin disorders Alopecia - baldness, hair loss Athletes foot - (tinea pedis) Atopic dermatitis Cancer (Because squamous cell carcinoma is often caused by sun exposure, people can help prevent this cancer by staying out of the sun and using protective clothing and sunscreen.) Chronic hives Eczema Hirsuitism - excessive body hair Impetigo Infections - bacterial, fungal and viral Irritant contact dermatitis Intertrigo Jock itch - (tinea cruris) Pityriasis rosea Onychomycosis - fungal nail infections Psoriasis Ringworm Rosacea/acne rosacea Scabies Shingles - viral rash related to chicken pox Tinea versicolor Xerosis - abnormal dryness of the skin
What to do for skin disorders It's a good idea to learn the most about the kind of skin you have, how to care for it and how to clean it properly , eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of good quality water. While you benefit internally and externally from maintaining good nutrition, circulation and physical care, there are situations where you may have a skin disorder or disease that good skin care alone cant prevent. In such cases, seek medical advice to learn the most effective and the most recent treatments available for your condition. Understand that it is okay to be scared or uncertain, however right beyond those barriers ultimately lies all your hopes and dreams. Josh Hinds credit: NewYorkObserver
