Jock itch home remedy

A jock itch home remedy is one that includes natural "anti-fungals", not just the synthetic ones produced by pharmaceutical companies.

Jock itch has been around for centuries and was successfully treated long before modern creams, ointments and powders existed.

First, wash and dry the affected area. Then choose one of the following anti-fungal remedies:

• Apply a thin layer of tea tree oil, a germ- and fungus-fighting antiseptic, to affected area twice daily. If the pure oil irritates your skin, put 10 drops into 2 tablespoons of Calendula cream and apply this mixture twice a day.

• Apply cooled thyme tea to affected area twice daily with a cotton ball. (Stir 2 teaspoons of fresh or dried thyme leaves into 1 cup of boiling water and steep for 20 minutes). Thyme contains thymols, potent fungus fighters. Store tea to use daily.

• Spread juice from a cut garlic clove on the affected area one day - and honey the next day. Honey is a powerful anti-fungal that makes an excellent jock itch home remedy.

• Add garlic to your diet. Garlic’s renowned anti-fungal properties help more than skin problems.

• Anti-fungal licorice has long been used as a jock itch home remedy. Stir 6 teaspoons of licorice powder into 1 cup of boiling water, steep for 20 minutes, cool and apply to affected area. Store remainder to use daily.

• Ginger, with over 22 anti-fungal compounds, is another fungus fighter. Stir 2 teaspoons of grated ginger root into 1 cup of boiling water, steep for 20 minutes, cool and apply to affected area with cotton ball. Store remainder to use each day.

Stop “feeding” the tinea cruris fungus

• Eliminate alcohol and processed sugars which both convert to sugar and feed the tinea fungus. Reduce carbohydrate intake and limit grains to small quantities. Avoid greasy, fried and processed foods.

• Eat foods that boost your immune system - good for more than your skin problems.

• Eating as recommended above can combat this itchy skin disorder and also lead to weight loss. Thinner people have fewer skin folds to hold moisture, thereby have less chance of hosting the tinea fungus.

• Use a silica powder to keep the area dry. Silica is an environmentally inert material and a safer choice than talcum powder.

Note If you have athletes foot, which is closely related to jock itch, put on your socks BEFORE putting on your underwear to avoid spreading the fungus to your groin area.

To ensure a jock itch home remedy does its job, like a traditional cure, it must be continued for several days after the symptoms disappear.
