Acne scars
The number one rule in preventing acne scars is NOT to pop zits when they develop into large and unsightly blemishes. It's very tempting to squeeze pimples, but if you keep your hands away from them, they’ll tend to heal on their own without creating scars. If nothing else, you’ll avoid transferring the bacteria from your hands to your skin, which can make the current pimple worse or cause more zits to form. The second thing to do is to start - and follow - a serious cleansing routine. Like with many things, we all start out with good intentions to follow the regimen, but after a week or two, keeping the skin clean becomes less of a priority. You really do want to clean your skin regularly with a gentle cleanser made for your skin type and acne type (using warm, not hot water) - and you really do want to pat it dry. Think “pamper” your skin and you’ll get the idea. A third measure for avoiding acne scars is to maintain treatment and make sure to use an effective form of acne care that works for your individual skin type and condition. What sometimes happens with acne treatment creams is that when they start to work we slack off the treatment because the zits starts to disappear. Follow the directions on the labels of the products you pick - and don’t slack off the treatment. About the products - choose the most chemical-free products you can find (a buildup of toxic chemicals has been shown to be one the causes of acne...). You don’t want to use a product that adds to the problem! All three of these simple practices contribute to reducing or preventing acne scars so you don’t have to use expensive and uncomfortable acne scar treatments or acne scar removal systems. The old line about prevention being worth a pound of cure is pretty accurate in this situation. Aim with your heart, adjust with your head, and always, always, always, do all you can. www.tut.com credit: Bob_Lambs_photography
